CM on a developmental tour of Anantnag Mehbooba lays foundation of STPs at Anantnag, inaugurates Pushwara bridge | KNO

Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today conducted an extensive tour of Anantnag district during which she laid foundation of various projects, inaugurated many other projects and interacted with people to know their day to day problems.

Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh; Minister for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, Abdul Rehman Veeri; Minister for PWD, Naeem Akhtar and legislators of several areas accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.


Mehbooba Mufti laid the foundation of Solid Waste Management facility and 62 KLD Septage Treatment Plant at Uranhall. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months.


The Chief Minister also laid foundation of 4 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plant near Anantnag stadium which would be built at a cumulative cost of Rs. 32 crore and would be completed in two years.


These sewerage treatment plants on completion would address the sanitation needs of the town by a great measure and also help in minimizing solid and water pollution accordingly.


During the tour, Mehbooba Mufti also inaugurated the Pushwara bridge which would give a major connectivity relief to the villages on the two sides of the bridge.


On the occasion, people in large numbers were seen struggling to have a word with their leader and put across their demands.


Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Mehndi Kadal-Ashajipora bye pass road which would reduce the traffic load in the main town considerably. The road has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 12.51 crore.


Mehbooba Mufti directed developing the vacant patches between the bye pass and the river into parks and small lagoons to make the place attractive.


Earlier, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a double storey Community Hall at Bijbehara, with a total carpet area of 8993 sq feet, which would provide facilities of congregation to people of adjoining areas.


Mehbooba Mufti also laid the foundation of a Tourist Reception Centre at Harnag. To be built as a heritage structure, the TRC would have facilities of a community hall, restaurant, craft market and other facilities to attract tourists travelling along the National Highway.


The Chief Minister directed completion of the project within one year.


Interacting with people on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the Government endeavors to make up for the lost time last year in terms of the developmental activities. She said a complete completion timeline for the developmental projects being founded  has been drawn up and directions have been issued that completion deadlines should be adhered to strictly.


Mehbooba Mufti also visited the District Hospital, Anantnag where she threw open an additional block which would add the bed capacity of the hospital by a great measure, giving the patients of catchment areas a major relief. She also handed over an ambulance to the members of a local NGO for the use of patients.


At Janglat Mandi, the Chief Minister laid the foundation of a multi level car parking facility. To be built at an estimated cost of Rs. 17 crore, the facility would be completed in two years and would provide parking facility to 182 cars.


Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Mattan-Achabal road and also laid the foundation of Akura-Poshkeri road upto Hugam Nambal. She also laid the foundation of Seer-Hapatnar-Aishmuqam road which would be built at a cost of Rs. 15 crore.


Legislators, Altaf Kaloo and Gulzar Ahmad Wani were present on these occasions.


During the tour, Mehbooba Mufti visited Salia(Pahalgam) where she inaugurated a residential school for children of tribal community. She directed immediate start of kitchen at the school so that the children do not have any difficulty in getting their food.


Vice Chairman, Gujjar Bakerwal Advisory Board, Choudhary Zaffar Ali was present on the occasion.


Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, Hardesh Kumar; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan; IGP Kashmir Zone, Muneer Khan; former Deputy Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sartaj Madni; heads of various Departments like Local Bodies, PDD, PHE, UEED, R&B etc. and officers   of district administration accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.


Enroute, people in large numbers were seen eagerly awaiting the Chief Minister. They projected their demands and sought their resolution.
